E43: Breakdown for a Breakthrough

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® discusses the importance of focusing on breakthroughs rather than getting stuck in breakdowns. Dr. Jean explains that when facing problems, it’s natural to dwell on the negative details of the “breakdown” and tell others about it. However, this just reinforces the negative experience through one’s Caveman Brain® Instead, one should acknowledge being in a breakdown mindset and consciously shift to defining the desired “breakthrough” outcome. The breakthrough leads to positive solutions and moving forward, rather than remaining stuck reliving the past problems. The key is recognizing when one is stuck in a breakdown and verbally reframing one’s mindset to focus on finding the breakthrough.

E42: Eric Bersano: Why Lawyers Need to be Master Marketers

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® discusses the importance of marketing, business development, and operations for law firms. Her guest, Eric Bersano, shares how he transitioned from working in orthopedics to marketing law firms. Lawyers are often resistant to marketing because they see it as unprofessional, but Eric argues it is crucial in the digital age. They recommend lawyers educate potential clients about their specializations through websites, blogs, and social media. Lawyers should also attend conferences to network and learn from successful peers. While lawyers must wear many hats starting out, larger firms should hire dedicated marketing staff. Marketing builds awareness and leads, while business development closes clients. Lawyers must adapt to changing times and prioritize marketing, sales, and operations to stay competitive as clients increasingly research attorneys online.

E35: Your Company as a Person

Dr. Jean, The Results Queen® discusses how to motivate employees to prioritize the company’s needs over their own self-interest. Dr.Jean explains that employees currently see their job as a means to an end rather than having “heart” for the company. To increase employee loyalty and commitment, Dr. Jean advises business owners to lead by example by prioritizing the company’s needs before their own. She also recommend thinking of the company as a person with a unique personality and needs, rather than just as a business. By describing the company as a person, it helps employees develop a connection and care for the organization.
